The actual tour of the underground mine starts at 11am. Please arrive at 10:30 to check-in with the group at the Welcome Centre and walk to the underground entrance for your guided underground tour. Warm jackets and a sweater are recommended along with good footwear. It is cold year round in the tunnel and mill building. For wet days we recommend rain jackets and an umbrella.

The ergonomics conditions at the Britannia Mine—a large copper mine that operated in British Columbia from 1904 to 1974— were harsh, dangerous, and far below today's acceptable standards. The mine had a reputation for being one of the hardest places to work in British Columbia, particularly before mid-century technological improvements. Workers faced continuous physical strain, poor working postures, and tool-related injuries without proper support or preventive measures.

Fee: The Region is covering part of the cost. There will be a cost per person based on the number of people attending. Expect a cost of $20-$30. You will be emailed instructions for e-transfer once you register. There will also be an opportunity for social networking at a nearby restaurant after the tour.
